Milk


Fluid Milk - half gallon or one gallon sizes.

Evaporated Milk - 12 oz can.

Dry Milk - box.

No quarts, high calcium milk, or flavored milk.

You must buy the least expensive brand of the type of milk you choose.


Juice

46 oz can. or plastic bottle

6 oz size or larger from concentrate.

100% unsweetened juice.

No cartons.

No juice drinks, beverages, or cocktails.

You must buy the least expensive brand of the type of juice you choose.

Cheese
8 oz size or larger

Colby, Monterey Jack, Longhorn, Mozzarella, Cheddar, Processed American, and any mixtures of allowed cheeses, such as Colby Jack or Cheddarella.

Fat free and reduce fat cheeses are allowed.

No imported cheese, cheese products, cheese food, spread, shredded, snack, string, deli, or added ingredients


Cereal


8 oz box or larger.

See back of WIC check for allowed cereal brands.

No infant cereal with added fruit. Tender Harvest is not allowed

 

General Mills
Cheerios - regular or multigrain, Chex - rice, corn, wheat or multibran, Kix - regular only, Wheaties - regular only.

Kelloggs
Corn Flakes - regular only, Mini Wheats - all flavors-except honey, Product 19, Special K.-regular only.

Malt-O-Meal
Puffed Rice.

Nabisco
Cream of Wheat or Rice - regular, Quick, or Instant (No Flavors).

Quaker
Instant Grits - original only, Instant oatmeal - regular only, King Vitamin, Life - regular only.


Eggs

You must buy the least expensive brand of large, white, chicken eggs.

No specialty, low cholesterol, or organic eggs.


Dry Beans and Peanut Butter

Pregnant and breastfeeding women and children over 2 years of age may receive peanut butter or dry beans. Since peanut butter may cause choking in young children, children under age 2 may receive dry beans, not peanut butter.

Examples are black beans, chickpeas (garbanzos), great northern beans, kidney beans lentils, lima beans, navy beans, pinto beans, soybeans, and split peas. No flavored, seasoned, gourmet, or soup mix.

Peanut Butter 12 oz size or larger Plain: creamy, extra crunchy, super chunky or crunchy. No added jelly, marshmallow, or honey. No spread, whipped, or fortified are allowed.


Canned Tuna and Carrots

WIC mothers who breastfeed and receive no infant formula from WIC may receive additional amounts of WIC foods which include canned tuna and carrots.

Carrots 8 oz size or larger. Fresh, frozen, or canned. No combinations, glazes, or sauces. Grated, shredded, julienned and snack packs are not allowed.


Tuna 6 oz can or larger. Water or oil packed. Tuna in pouches is not allowed.


Infant Formula


WIC infants who are not completely breastfed may receive the brand of infant formula printed on the front of the WIC check. No low iron formula.

Carnation Good Start
Carnation Alsoy
WIC participants may select either Concentrated Liquid or Powder.

 

Note: Carnation ® Follow-Up™ Formulas are allowed when the infact is older than 6 months and eating a variety of foods.
