Woman Infant and Children Supplemental Food Program
How WIC Works
Dry Beans and Peanut Butter

Pregnant and breastfeeding women and children over 2 years of age may receive peanut butter or dry beans. Since peanut butter may cause choking in young children, children under age 2 may receive dry beans, not peanut butter. Reduced fat peanut butter is allowed.

Examples are black beans, chickpeas (garbanzos), great northern beans, kidney beans, lentils, lima beans, navy beans, pinto beans, soybeans, and split peas. No flavored, seasoned, gourmet, or soup mix.

Peanut Butter 12 oz size or larger Plain: creamy or crunchy. No added jelly, marshmallow, or honey. No spread, super chunk, extra-crunchy, whipped, or fortified.
